Dear Friend,

Hello. It feels like such a long time since the last time I saw you. How are you doing? Great? I hope you're doing fine. I heard that you undergo some kind of depression. Is that true my dear friend? Why are you depressed? The teenage years can be tough, and it's normal to feel sad or irritable every now and then. The good news is that you don't have to feel this way. Help is available. All you have to do is ask. Come, let me point out some suggestion on how to make yourself feel better.

You can ask for help if you are stress. Stress and worry can lead to serious depression. Talk to your teacher or a counselor if exams or classes seem overwhelming. If you have a health concern and you feel you can't talk to your parents about it such as pregnancy scare or drug problem, seek for medical attention at a clinic or see a doctor. A health professional also can guide you towards appropriate treatment. If you are dealing with relationship, friendship, or even family problems, you should talk to an adult that you can trust.

When you're depressed, you may not feel like seeing anybody or doing anything. but isolating yourself only can makes depression even worse. Go out and enjoy. By socializing, you may find yourself feeling better. Spend your time with your friends, especially those who are active, upbeat, and make you feel good about yourself. Please, avoid hanging out with those who abuse drugs or alcohol. They will get you into trouble and will make you feel insecure. It's also a good idea to limit the time you spend playing video games or surfing online.

By changing your lifestyle, it also can change your mood. Things like diet and exercise have been proved to help depression. From exercising, you can actually get a rush of endorphins which makes you feel happier. Physical activities can be as effective as medications or therapy for depression. So, get involved in sports, play some outdoor games, ride your bike. Any activity that helps. Even a short walk around your neighbourhood can be beneficial. Moreover, improper diet can make you feel tired and worsen depression symptoms. Your body need nutrients such as iron. Make sure you're taking plenty of fruits and vegetables. You can also talk to your parents or a doctor about how to ensure your diet is suitable for you body.

You are not alone my dear friend. You might be surprised at how many other teens suffer from depression. Even though it feels like the depression will never disappear, it will eventually disappear with the proper treatment and healthy choices. In the meantime, you might need therapy or medications to help you to sort out your feeling. Share your problems with your parents. I'm sure they will help you. Don't worry. If medications is being considered, do your research before making a decision because some antidepressants is used for adults and can actually make teens feel even worse.

Lots of love,
Syaza
